I really needed a new chair for my dining room, not necessarily for everyday use with the dining table but as Peter Kay would suggest - an emergency chair. The type of seating needed with an unexpected guest arrives.
Luckily I was able to pick up a mid-century kitchen chair from ebay for the princely sum of £5. It was a little tired, although I liked the yellow colour and the pattern, I knew I wouldn't be able to restore the original covering and the seat didnt look too comfortable either. Instead I took a quick trip to Dunelm Mill and picked up a large Scandi influenced table cloth and an oblong of foam. Once home, I cut the square of foam to size and glued it to the seat of the chair, then, I cut the tablecloth in half and used one half for my dining table. I used the other half to cover the chair, using a combination of a staple gun and a hot glue gun, with the new tablecloth, Hey presto - a new scandi-influenced mid-century chair....not bad for less than a tenner and an hours work!
